X - RAY INTERFEROMETER FOR INVESTIGATING THE ANGULAR COHERENCE OF X - RAY CHARACTERISTIC RADIATION

The problem of angular coherence of characteristic X-ray radiation is discussed. It is claimed that only the beams of characteristic X - ray radiation emerging from a point source (atom) at small angles with respect to each other are coherent, i.e., there exists a critical angle in between these wave beams, in excess of which they are not coherent any more. A technique for experimental investigation of angular coherence of characteristic X- ray radiation from a point source is proposed. A special arrangement consisting of a three-block interferometer operating in the mode of a four-block interferometer has been elaborated.
