Abstract
Issues on improving the fatigue resistance of the shafts of transmission mechanisms used in drive schemes of various class machines and technological equipment whose working surfaces are exposed to surface plastic deformation (SPD) at their running by a roller hardening tool are considered. The results of previously conducted researches are classified, and on the basis of the system analysis multiparametric functional relations between the shafts’ fatigue resistance characteristics and the parameters of hardening technology, the surface physicalmechanical condition, as well as the geometric dimensions and the shaft shapes are revealed. Regression equations, the modeling hardening processes, considering the acting factors are obtained.
