Abstract

The paper presents the Akhuryan River basin surface water and underground water amount values evaluation designed for covering needs of irrigated land, providing domestic and drinking water, industrial water supply, fisheries and hydropower. The possibilities of using additional surface water from both the Akhuryan River and directly from the Akhuryan reservoir (due to unused water during the non-irrigated season) have been identified. In particular, it was obtained that with sustainable regulation and operation of water resources it is possible to use approximately 85 million m3/year of water. The values of water consumption and water supply for 2015, 2020, 2025 and 2030 are estimated. It has been found that till 2030 water consumption for irrigation will grow by 156 million m3/year, and the water supply will decrease by 105 million m3/year. At the same time, the supply of ground water for domestic and drinking water supply will decrease by 7 million m3/year.
