Abstract

There are nearly 10000 underground cavities and hollows in the Republic of Armenia- natural caves, rocky dwellings and settlements, mines drilled for extraction and exploration of minerals, etc. Due to their uniqueness (mystery, inaccessibility, relation to historical places and figures, rich biodiversity and so on) those spaces can be considered as universal tourist objects and used in various fields of tourism: scientific, cognitive, religious, extreme, sport, adventure, and more. In order to effectively use underground spaces it is necessary to inventory and include them in tourist routes.
