Abstract

There are numerous fortifications, mostly built in the late middle ages preserved on the Armenian Highlands. New methods of effective protection were developed in accordance with the variety of attack tactics and types of weapons. Particular attention was paid to the most appropriate use of natural protective conditions of the area. The development of their composition in accordance with the requirements of time, acquired operational, architectural and construction and artistic features, which characterize the compositional features is considered.
