Abstract
The functions of architectural design of public open spaces of the most significant cities of developed countries are defined. Public open spaces that are historically formed and designed in the last decade are considered. The comparative analysis reveals the current state, the prerequisites for their formation and function. A diagram is identified that highlights the most significant functions for each example considered. A scheme is presented reflecting the interrelation between the functions of the architectural design of public open spaces.
