Abstract

Nowadays the reservoirs in RA and reservoirs of hydro power plants (HPPs) of Sevan- Hrazdan cascade are filled by sediments. Hydro power plants reservoirs are often referred to retaining dams. The latters are caused by the construction of dams with a height of 10 to 15 meters and more, reservoirs of which usually don't have big volumes. Retaining dams of reservoirs are filled fast by sediments during the exploitation of hydro system, which cause substantial difficulties during their exploitation and unreasonable economical costs. It requires elaboration of measures against sedimentation of retaining dams, as well as developments of the cleaning methods. The features of retaining dams’ exploitation of hydro power plants in RA were described. Sediments of retaining dams are suggested to be cleaned by the method of hydromechanization.
