Abstract

For centuries Armenian highland has been undergone to devastating earthquakes. Armenian church construction passed thorough many earthquakes, it was destroyed and rebuilt. In the epicentral area of the Spitak earthquake are many historical monuments, which as a result of the earthquake were damaged of varying degrees. The paper attempts to evaluate the vulnerability of historical monuments and churches. An attempt is made to examine the degree of damages and volumetric spatial composition of above mentioned churches, to classify them according to volumetric spatial strength, and then evaluate the level of their vulnerability.
