Abstract
The article presents the examples of museum architecture of XX century, the history of the transformation of industrial buildings to contemporary museums and its development, their architectural features, samples of museumsʼ visual transformations, their architectural effects, new functions of the ''museum'' idea. Тhe examples of contemporary united museum complexes, the problems of the role of modern museums with pert, daring and original architecture, the formation of open-air museums in XX century and particularity of their function are observed in the article .
