Abstract

Ktitor bas-relief of king Gagik Bagratuni in the church of Saint Gregory the illuminator in Ani is brought to light. It is considered in terms of its position in the overall composition of the church, from the viewpoint of possible presence of a second high relief, as well as harmony with the architecture. It stands out among other kritor reliefs for its features and impact on the further development of sculpture in the round.
