Abstract
The article is an attempt to reveal a connection between the status of a woman in a traditional Yezidi family and the conversion of Yezidi women to “Jehova’s Witnesses”. Most of the interviewed women explain their decision by the low status of a girl/woman in the family, restrictions in education and socialization, early marriages, etc. The article is based on the author’s interviews among the Yezidis of Armenia.
