The book by Sahan Shahnour - “A Pair of Red Notebooks”, summarizes the valuable testimonies and personal impressions of the author, including, the memories of his childhood and adolescence. That seemingly insignificant biographical information helps the reader to disclose the character of another “hero”, the author himself. Step-by-step the memories get complete and linked to one another. Ultimately the sketch of the writer's inner world and emotions become a face and obtain traits. As in all his works and articles this book also reflects Shahnour’s complex and intricating ideas. The book was published in 1967, however, further it was revised by the author and published under “The Amenun Teodik” title where the author vividly describes the Armenian Polis during the harsh times of the genocide and after it.
