Abstract
The main theories of foreign investments created in XIX-XX centuries and their relevance in the banking sector of the Republic of Armenia are investigated. Comparative research was done to study the profitability of banks in Armenia and Europe, which will enable to disclose the reasons of the European banking capital inflow. By the correlation analysis the relations between the foreign investments and some development indicators of the Armenian banking sector are revealed.
