Abstract

Antoni Gaudi is considered as one of the brightest representatives of modern style. Gaudi created rational designs, using reinforced concrete, glass, covering ceramics for the surfaces. Decorative reliefs of buildings’ external facades and their coloring, “flowing” rhythms of lines and forms are described. Fantastic and mystical emotions and contemplations are born in Gaudi’s brainchild and masterpiece –Sagrada Familia, which was envisioned by the author to become the architectural embodiment of the New Testament. Gaudi’s multi-apartment creations of Casa Milla, Casa Battlo are also discussed hereby where the author achieved to a live and dynamic system by multi-color and bright mosaics, curvy, bending lines, fantastic combination of contrasting materials. As for the Parc Güell, colors and materials are so abundant that an impression is created that they are not connected to the surface, they are in the air and live in their independent, own life. Finally, Gaudi defined Barcelona’s appearance and style. He created his own kingdom in the modern style while the best part of that kingdom he established in Barcelona.
