Abstract

The main issues of noise reduction by the use of bloated obsidian are discussed. Special emphasis is put on the means of noise reduction, negative effect of noise, classification of sound-absorbing materials, etc. Within the scope of the study the grounds for getting the optimal porosity of obsidian are examined based on which it is concluded that several durable, sound-absorbing and heat-insulating materials such as porous concrete, monolithic slab and acoustic plaster can be made by the use of bloated obsidian.
