The article is dedicated to the comprehensive study of the first review written on one of the masterpieces by Hakob Paronyan “Uncle Baghdasar”. It is noticeable that the author of the review (“Criticism on the Comedy “Uncle Baghdasar””) written under the pen-name of “Esther” is the philologist nephew of Paronyan Maksut Santalchyan disguised under the cover of a fervent woman protectionist of feminism. From the scientific perspective the interesting thing is that this very review was published in the periodical “Khikar” that was edited by Paronyan himself, under his shrewd glance, and, moreover, due to his own wish and honest demand of not giving way to praise but to pay attention only at the “drawbacks” of the play. And, thus, the aim of the given publication is to thoroughly study this most likely beneficial review, to penetrate into its layers , to reveal, as far as possible, the similarities and differences of the author’s literary credo, world perception and taste with that of Paronyan’s by the same time emphasizing the literary stable apprehensions and vital unique perceptions of the dramatist.

The article touches upon the study of “Theater: A Friend toChildren” by Hakob Paronyan. It focuses on the analysis of the educational role of children’s weekly newspaper and on formation of gender identity in the context of children reading it and also refers to the concept by which Paronyan has turned to the role distribution of schoolchildren and to the shaping of heroes of both sexes by giving each of them separate functions and thus forming the members of the future society. The characters of boys and girls in the works of Paronyan for children are not monosemic: these heroes have vital functional differences that are conditioned by the social mentality of the time, social preconditions and personal perceptions and beliefs of the author which are expressed through characters (temper, the framework of activities, environment, implemented functions, punishments), images and lessons given by the author. The core task of the study is the analysis of the issues which play the utmost role from the concept of psychological, functional and descriptive problems and also their possible impact on the upbringing of the Armenian children the in the late 19th century.

The article discusses the issue of formation of the main character, Emil Sinclair, in the context of other central characters of the novel (Cromer, Demian, Pistorius, Eva, etc.). The main preconditions for the emergence of personality are Sinclair’s passing through sin, the “Cain’s seal” or the knowledge of his “shadow” (in the Jungian sense), competitiveness, the decoding of non-verbal communicative signs. The emergence of personality in the novel is also presented in the context of Gnosticism and Jungian analytical psychology. The author of the novel offers a concept of transition from opposition and confrontation to synthesis and compromise as one of the main cognitive skills for the formation of personality. This conception suggested by Hesse was used not only for describing the personality of Emil Sinclair, but also for constructing the poetics of the novel as well as all its main characters.

In the article, referring to the novel “Handan” by Halide Edib Adıvar, the author, by making comparisons between the epic biography of the main heroine and the life of Halide Edib, states the autobiographical genre of the novel. The author also presents, that this is one of the first novels by Halide Edib, where she expressed her feministic ideas.

Old Armenian layer of modern Armenian reciprocal verbs includes approximately 150 verbs (about 30% of 500 verbs of the Old Armenian). About 50 reciprocal verbs passed into modern Armenian without any semantic and structural changes, and about 100 of them underwent certain changes. Modifications in orthography and word formation of reciprocal verbs (structural modifications) have systemic character and are not related to the reciprocal voice. Semantic changes appear with widening, narrowing, and modifying the volume of the verbs, which have retained the reciprocal voice.

The goal of the present article is to uncover the literary effect of syntactic means of character depiction in poetry. A research is conducted among expressive syntactic means aiming to find out their intrinsic potential to serve the mentally strenuous process of depicting characters in works of poetry. The investigation elicits the effects that the abovementioned means have on shaping the main traits and ideological vectors of characters. The results of the research are epitomized by a model designed to be employed as a tool for analyzing characters in all sorts of poetic works.
