In the article, it is shown that Hovhan Vorotnetsi (1315-1888) accepted or rejected Aristotle's notions of the soul depending on their accordance with
the principles of the Christian anthropology. Armenian thinker accepts Aristotelian notions of the unity of soul (form) and body (material); three powers of the soul; inner and outer senses; innate purity of soul; passive and active intelligence. And criticizes Aristotle for the fact that the latter a) considers soul not as an independent essence, but as derivative essence or quality; b) thinks that soul can not exist without body; c) considers soul as an instrument of the body, entelechy; and d) does not consider soul as automotive and eternal motive, but as a motionless essence or put in motion by another being.
