In the article, the role of XIV-XV centuries’ Armenian philosophy in the processes of construction and functioning of Christian paradigm of national identity is illustrated. Armenian philosophy of  20 mentioned centuries played a dual role: a) it elaborated a world-view and an outlook based on Christian value system; an integrity of metaphysical, anthropological and ethical views, without which it is impossible to imagine any paradigm of identity, b) over time it has become a component of the Christian paradigm of the Armenian identity, and with its crucial participation performed the following protective functions: by means of philosophical concepts and arguments to substantiate the sovereignty of the Armenian Church and its doctrinal principles, traditions and ceremonies; to perform an ideological struggle against union movement; to appreciate the importance of the philosophical knowledge, historical memory, the necessity of preservation and usage of national traditions, continuous “reading” and rethinking of national values in the structure of national (religious) identity.
