Abstract

According to Khorenatsi, Armenian-Georgian relations included the the military, political, ideological and cultural areas. There were military and political
relations during the reign of Armenian kings Yervand, Artashes, Tigran, Artavazd who lived B.C. According to Khorenatsi, in that time Georgia was under the Armenian hegemony and it continued until 387 A.D., when Armenia was disparted between Persia and Roman Empire. The Armenian hegemony is observed in the ideology because Armenian pagan gods Aramazd and Vahagn were adored in Georgia, too. When Christianity enteredin Armenia as a state religion, the son of Armenian catholicos became the yepiskopos of Georgia. The Armenian Church controlled the fight against sectarians in Armenia and in Georgia. There were close relations in the culture, too. According to Khorenatsi, Mesrop Mashtots created Armenian and Georgian alphabets and Georgian king helped Mesrop in Georgia. So Armenian-Georgian relations begin from the early times and continue till today.
