Аннотация

In addition to publishing activities Voskan Yerevantsi is known for his grammatical works. He translated from Latin and developed a grammar the concise version of which was also published. The present article is an attempt to clarify the grammatical views of Voskan Yerevantsi. Moreover, the author does not rely on Voskan’s printed but on the manuscript copy of grammar N3391 of the Mashtots Matenadaran, which contains more extensive information. First the printed and handwritten versions are compared, and then the basic principles of Voskan’s grammar according to the parts of speech are given. Semantic and composition issues of name, verb, reception and other parts of speech are revealed. Voskan was often considered a Latinist author taking into account some linguistic features of his works. However, the author of the present article concludes that Voskan Yerevantsi was not merely copying Latin grammar but also commenting on it and even criticizing it.
