Stratigraphic analysis of the data of excavation reveals a chronological correspondence of the Early Medieval archaeological complexes with the main building stages of St. Gregory Cathedral. However, the presence of double massive use of fine white sandstones and architectural elements is attested in the foundations of the preliminary three-nave basilica of the 4th century AD. The same picture is represented in other synchronous monumental buildings of Dvin. That considerable fact testifies to the existence pre-Cristian cultic structures in Dvin’s traditional sanctuary of the Classical period.
