Abstract
The great Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan was always in close contact with Georgia. In his articles, the poet emphasized the great similarity of historical destinies of the Armenian and Georgian peoples and the unity of their national and public interests. He claimed that the representatives of the Georgian people always supported Armenia, and Armenians had been supporting Georgia for centuries. Concerning the clashes between the two neighbors, the great poet believed that the blame laid on the ruling circles whose interests often contradicted the interests of their own people and which played on the feelings of the crowd. Tumanyan collected various documentary materials related to the history of the Georgian people, translated them, conducted philological research, organized literary evenings, took part in all the events of the Georgian cultural life.
