Abstract

In 1922 Tekeyan left Constantinople and had to wander in dozens of countries around the world (Greece, France, Middle East countries ...) but Cairo remained the main scope of his life and activity until his death. Old wounds and losses were increased by the new ones, the nation was on the brink of extinction, assimilation had begun, and all the national and cultural values were lost. In 1933, 1943, 1944 Tekeyan published his new collections of poems, which became the documentary of the past and present of Armenian life and conditioned the high quality of the Diaspora poetry. From the creative and historical point of view, the period of Tekeyan’s life from 1922 to 1945 was characterized by the fact that Tekeyan had to bear the burden of his martyred pen-friends’ incomplete works and became the artistic annalist of the spirit and fate of the Diaspora Armenian homeless.
