Abstract

The concept of territoriality was the underlying one in determining the national community, since all other traits were initially formed around the territorial unity. Currently, the socio-cultural progress of mankind has raised the level of ethnic self-awareness of ethnic groups, and the growth of the world migration processes has called into question the very significance of the territory as the primary factor for the nation. More and more ethnic communities identify themselves on the primary basis of ethno-cultural characteristics, which leads to the development of a new phenomenon – global ethnic nationality and to the globalization of ethno-political conflicts. This globalization of ethno-political conflicts in connection with the Karabakh conflict is a new problem of Armenological studies.
