Abstract

From the end of the nineteenth century the social-political life of the Iranian-Armenian community began to flourish, and several Armenian parties emerged. The local committees of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation - Dashnaktsutyun were first established in Atrpatakan (Tabriz, Maku, Salmast, Khoy, Urmia, Gharadagh), later in Gilan (Enzeli, Rasht, Astara), Mazandaran, Tehran, New Jugha, Maragha, Hamadan, Qazvin and elsewhere. Committees of Social-Democratic Hunchakyan Party emerged in Tabriz, Rasht, Tehran and other places. Ramkavar Liberals, being the representatives of the Western Armenian rich class, were unable to occupy strong positions among Iranian-Armenians. In this article we have analyzed the activities of three Armenian parties in Iran and their role in the social and political life of the Armenian community during the period between 1921-1945.
