«Տանուտեր» և «տանուտերություն» հասկացությունները վաղ ավատատիրական Հայաստանում

Abstract

In the Armenian sources of the fifth century not only the terms “nakharar” and “prince” but also “tanuter” were applied to the large and medium-sized Armenian feudal lords, and the term “tanuterutyun” was used for the territory under control. The reports of primary sources show that “tanuter” was the same hereditary landowner nakharar-prince, the head of the clan, while “tanuterutyun” was 1) the “honor” that was awarded to the nakharar (prince), on the basis of which he ruled his territory; 2) this was another name for “nakhararutyun” (principality); and 3) often also meant the post, in the sense of power. The points of view adopted in historiography that “Tanuterakan Armenia” is the status of the Armenian marzpanate and the “tanuter of Armenia” is the governor of the country – marzpan, are not supported by primary sources. The term “Tanuterakan Armenia” can be applied to “nakhararakan (princely) Armenia” only for the years 428-591.
