Abstract

The Armenian-Arab treaty of 652 did not last long, and the Arabs soon occupied the entire Armenia. However, due to the renewed Arab-Byzantine wars, Armenia's leading elite managed to keep the country safe from external threats. Acting as the Armenian Prince from the year 655, Hamazasp Mamikonyan reunited the Armenian lands in a short time, which for some reason were not part of Armenia. Thanks to Armenian princes, three centuries later Armenia became a single state in the region. While during the rule of Grigor Mamikonyan the autonomy of the state was strengthened further and conditions for economic development were created. Thanks to brothers Mamikonyan, the united Armenia restored its place and role in the region.
