The Medieval Bilingual Persian-Ottoman dictionaries are considered to be monuments of historical and culural importance. They are of considerable value in terms of school education, academic literature, scientific principles and perceptions of the period, as well as in the sphere of research of historical and cultural ties between the two nations and the two languages. The dictionaries reflect the image of educational and scientific research of the period, methodology and changes in the language structure. The analysed dictionaries and philological works which are kept in the Depository of the Arabic Script codices in the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts – the Matenadaran, are of great importance and function as medieval textbooks for the study of the Persian and Turkish languages and literature. They summarize historical, cultural realia which are not preserved in other sources and are considered to be sources of medieval lexicology and education.
