Abstract

Smbat Sparapet’s “Almanac”, as opposed to its rubric devoid of manuscript tradition, is ranked among the series of works of chronicle genre. This conclusion is based on the investigation of the structural and stylistic features of the content of the “Almanac”. Revealing the idiosyncrasies of the chronicle genre, the analysis of the “Almanac” uncovers the problem of the genre of the work of art. Moreover, as the study of the political and ideological orientation of the “Almanac” shows it is an official chronology of the history of the XIII century Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia.
