Abstract

The article provides reliable information stating that first, Mount Ararat, as well as the country and Kingdom of Ararat mentioned in The Holy Scripture, are identical to Armenia. Second, it states that the ark-carrying mountain of the sacred legends of Mesopotamia (the Korduk Mountains) is located in the country of Urartu-Armenia-Hayastan. The article reveals why and how in the Mesopotamian (Sumerian-Akkadian-Babylonian) epic tradition Mount Judy was singled out from the Armenian Highlands as the ark-carrying mountain, whereas in the Hebrew epic tradition it was Masis-Ararat, and later, when Noah’s Ark myth became dominant due to Christianity and Islam, the only Noah’s ark-carrying mountain became Mount Judy in one case, and Masis-Ararat in the other. Later on, to the present day Masis-Ararat has become the winning mountain in the Christian world and Mount Judy – in the Islamic world.
