Abstract
Johannes Lepsius, one of the devotees of the Armenians among the European public and religious figures in the years of the Armenian Genocide and one of the whistleblowers of the crimes of the Ottoman authorities, had extensive contacts with many Armenian figures, about which has time and again been written by many researchers studying his Armenophile’s activities. However, the vast majority of historians of the Armenian Genocide, as well as biographers of prominent Armenian public figure Arshak Chopanyan, did not even mention their relationships. The letter of Lepsius to Arshak Copanyan revealed by us in his personal archive, written in 1923 in French, in which he expresses his gratitude for sending him one of the books published by Chopanyan in 1923, is a striking proof of their close friendship. The letter is published in translation into Armenian.
