Abstract

In the epic works of Hovhannes Tlkurantsi there are developments in biblical motifs. Such valuable literary works are the epic verses “On Beheading of St. John” and “Interpretation of Creatures”. The mentioned first epic poem is an original verse created in medieval literature based on the episode of beheading John the Baptist in the Gospel of St. Matthew. And in “Interpretation of Creatures” – an epic poem of interpreting type, Tlkurantsi had recomposed the Book of “Genesis” in verse and in beautiful poetic lines had described the events of that Mosaic book.
