Abstract

After the proclamation of the Constitution in 1908 the non-Muslim population of the Ottoman Empire started to claim the right to serve in the army. After the detailed discussion of this issue the Ottoman Parliament passed the conscription act for non-Muslims. Since then Armenians had been called up along with Muslims, and officers with military education started to serve almost in all military units.
