Մայր բուհի մայր ֆակուլտետի 95-ամյա ուղին

Abstract

The article is devoted to the 95-year road of the Historical-Linguistic Faculty – the first faculty of Yerevan State University. The efforts of those statesmen of the First Republic of Armenia who did their best to create an Alma Mater in the newly-established republic, the first faculty of which later passed a productive road, educated and formed a powerful army of Armenologists and historians, gave thousands of graduates to the Armenian thought and science are highly appreciated.

The idea that the establishment of the faculty had not been arbitrary, is emphasized in the article. The newly-established country needed teachers, intellectuals and scientists having national character, who would become the those spreading the ideological principles of Independent Armenia and independent statehood and would contribute to the development of enlightenment and progress. During the past 95 years the University and its first faculty have had great progress, created dozens of new faculties, chairs and departments, educational structures.
