Abstract

Speaking about the Armenian Genocide one only remembers more than a million and a half innocent victims murdered, slaughtered, driven to other places. Far less is thought of the cultural loss and spiritual and material values that we lost.

Today the Azerbaijanians steadily and deliberately destroy the Armenian cultural heritage and this process can be fully called “ethnocide” or cultural genocide.

The policy of changing Christian Armenian architecture led by Azerbaijani government is realized in several directions: nothing is said about them in official publications, guidebooks; ethnocultural and religious identity is changed; the monuments are deliberately destroyed; different barbaric acts are committed (explosion, destruction, usage of the stones of churches as building material, stores) against the monuments; the Armenian Christian churches are turned into Mosques; many Armenian monuments are being hidden under a thick layer of soil; visits to and research of the monuments are prohibited. They were changing the plan, view, name of the architectural monuments under the name of reconstruction and rebuilding.
